Baseball Game Preview: Pomona Red Devils vs. Webb Gauls

The Pomona Red Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Webb Gauls at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.

On Monday, Pomona and Mark Keppel finished up their contest with a 2-2 tie.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Webb, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over California Lutheran on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Gauls needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Mikey Pino was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Webb got a massive performance out of Alec Kaushal, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Kaushal a new career-high. Andres Caballero was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

Pomona came out on top in a nail-biter against Webb in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Gauls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
