Basketball Recap: Smithfield Comes Up Short

Smithfield played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Warhill Lions 53-20. The Packers haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

D'Shela Walker was her usual excellent self, going 12 of 23 on her way to 31 points for Warhill. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Walker has scored at least a third of Warhill's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taleah James, who posted seven points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Smithfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Warhill, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Smithfield has already played their next contest (against Western Branch), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Warhill will be playing in front of their home fans against Jamestown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warhill is facing Jamestown at the right time seeing as Jamestown is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
