Preview: East Wake Warriors vs. West Johnston Wildcats

The East Wake Warriors will be playing at home against the West Johnston Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, East Wake was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 26-20 to the Golden Falcons. East Wake has not had much luck with the Golden Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, East Wake got a solid performance out of Erica Rawlings, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Rawlings hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadyn Edwards, who scored three points along with 15 rebounds.

Even though they lost, East Wake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as C.B. Aycock only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, West Johnston's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell 49-39 to Southern Wayne. That's two games in a row now that West Johnston has lost by exactly ten points.

East Wake's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for West Johnston, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

East Wake might still be hurting after the 59-38 loss they got from the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in January. Will East Wake have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
