Basketball Game Preview: Highland Park Giants vs. Maine West Warriors

Highland Park hasn't had much luck against Maine West recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Highland Park Giants are taking a road trip to challenge the Maine West Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Highland Park was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to Niles West. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Giants came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Wolves are ranked 477th).

Meanwhile, Maine West lost 58-33 to Saint Viator on Tuesday.

Maine West's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Highland Park, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-4.

Highland Park beat Maine West 51-44 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland Park since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
