Baseball Recap: Walled Lake Central Vikings vs. Franklin Patriots
Walled Lake Central had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 10-10-1 to make it five. They fell 10-5 to the Franklin Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 on Saturday.
As for Franklin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.
For Franklin's part, Brendan Bache made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bache has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Luke Ogden and Nick Cox did most of the damage at the plate: Ogden went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Cox went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two hits gave Ogden a new career-high. Landon Ruhl was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.
