Football Preview: Lorena Leopards vs. C.H. Yoe Yoemen
The Lorena Leopards will head out to challenge the C.H. Yoe Yoemen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lorena is looking for their season?s first win.
Lorena lost 42-21 to Franklin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Leopards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Lions are ranked 38th).
Caleb Carrizales put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2023.
Lorena wouldn't let Franklin keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Lorena can thank Brody Deleon and Demarcus Winters for forcing both of them. Deleon is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, C.H. Yoe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 41-24 bruising from Maypearl.
Despite the loss, C.H. Yoe got top-tier performance from Cade Hubnik, who threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 99 yards. Elijah Goodrum also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Lorena's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-3. As for C.H. Yoe, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Lorena has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 165 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like C.H. Yoe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 207.3. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
