Basketball Recap: Grand Canyon Drops Season-High Score on Rough Rock

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grand Canyon). They really took it to the Rough Rock Sun Devils for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-16 victory. With the Phantoms ahead 30-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Grand Canyon's win on Thursday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaemie Jensen, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 steals. Jensen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 43 games she's played dating back to last season. Ellanina Nanacasia was another key player, going 9 of 16 en route to 23 points and four steals.

Grand Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Grand Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Rough Rock, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Ash Fork the next time they take the court. Grand Canyon will host Ash Fork at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while Rough Rock will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
