Baseball Recap: Shadow Ridge's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Shadow Ridge had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 12-12-2 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Valley Vista Monsoon. That's more bragging rights for the Stallions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ryan McAfee tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has become a key player for Shadow Ridge: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Owen Gorman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Weston Eubanks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Valley Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

On Valley Vista's side, Rylie Hanson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Garza, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Shadow Ridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against Valley Vista: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
