Basketball Recap: Patrick County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bassett last Monday, Patrick County came back down to earth. The Patrick County Cougars fell to the Chatham Cavaliers 36-30. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Chatham's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakiyah Giggetts, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Giggetts is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Sydney Ward, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Patrick County now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Chatham, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Patrick County Cougars face off against the Dan River Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Patrick County is facing Dan River at the right time seeing as Dan River is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Chatham will take on Magna Vista in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Magna Vista's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
