Basketball Recap: Xavier Comes Up Short

After flying high against Marion last Saturday, Xavier came back down to earth. The Xavier Saints took a hard 82-64 fall against the Linn-Mar Lions on Tuesday. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Xavier's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Linn-Mar, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Xavier will host Hempstead at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hempstead knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Xavier likes a good challenge. As for Linn-Mar, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Linn-Mar Lions face off against the Cedar Falls Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Linn-Mar is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Cedar Falls a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
