Soccer Game Preview: Litchfield vs. Staunton

The Litchfield Purple Panthers will head out to challenge the Staunton Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Litchfield is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Williamsville just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Bullets, falling 5-1.

Meanwhile, Staunton put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Roxana get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Give Staunton's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Staunton pushed their record up to 10-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Litchfield, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3-2.

Litchfield might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Staunton when the teams last played back in March. Can the Purple Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
