Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Austin Extends Winning Streak to Six

Fort Bend Austin entered their tilt with Fort Bend Travis on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They secured a 50-45 W over the Fort Bend Travis Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 64-55 back in December of 2024.

Fort Bend Austin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrea Sturdivant, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals. Sturdivant's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Aminah Dixon was another key player, putting up 17 points along with six boards and four steals.

Despite the loss, Fort Bend Travis still got an impressive performance from Anisa Allen, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Allen also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mitchelle Okwueze, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Fort Bend Austin pushed their record up to 20-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Fort Bend Travis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-14 record this season.

Fort Bend Austin has already played their next match, a 41-39 defeat against Fort Bend Hightower on the 28th. As for Fort Bend Travis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-61 victory against Fort Bend Bush on the 28th.
