Baseball Recap: Vallivue Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Vallivue and Bishop Kelly meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Falcons fell just short of the Knights by a score of 8-6. The Falcons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 9-7.

Isaac Farrel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Clay Cope, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Vallivue's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Bishop Kelly, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vallivue will challenge Emmett at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Bishop Kelly, they will head out on the road to square off against Caldwell at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
