Softball Recap: University Prep Snags Tenth Win in Last 11 Games

University Prep won the last time they faced Adelanto and things went their way on Monday too. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 19-9 victory. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

Brie (Brieana) Villanueva made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Villanueva was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, University Prep let Paityn Zimmerman and Saidy Gonzalez run wild. Zimmerman went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, while Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. Juliette Torres was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.

University Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

University Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Adelanto, they moved to 14-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, University Prep will head out on the road to face off against Apple Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sun Devils have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. Adelanto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
