Basketball Recap: American Leadership Academy's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

American Leadership Academy had won two straight games and Kannon Huntsman did his part to make it three on Wednesday. The American Leadership Academy Eagles walked away with a 57-47 victory over the Rowland Hall Winged Lions thanks in part to Huntsman, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards.

Malakai Mack was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals. Mack is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Rowland Hall lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ian Mellor, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luc Dowdle, who posted 19 points.

American Leadership Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. As for Rowland Hall, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. American Leadership Academy will face off against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in American Leadership Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. As for Rowland Hall, they will take on Waterford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Waterford will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Rowland Hall surely won't give up without a fight.
