Volleyball Recap: Marionville Victorious

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Marionville and Pleasant Hope meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Comets came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 2-0. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Marionville easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-19.

Annaliyah Ghan paced Marionville's offense, picking up four kills. Ghan really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with six. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Rylie Fletcher, each putting up four.

Marionville's victory bumped their record up to 13-11-3. As for Pleasant Hope, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16-3 record this season.

Marionville has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Greenfield on the 11th. As for Pleasant Hope, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Russellville on the 11th.
