Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 7-14. They lost 20-9 to the Dominguez Dons. The Apaches were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dons from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

As for Dominguez, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-15 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Dominguez's part, Angel Lopez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Lopez has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ryan Flores was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Jacob Potts was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will welcome Inglewood at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sentinels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.53 runs per game on average), something the Apaches will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Dominguez, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mayfair at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Monsoons have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
