Softball Recap: Fountain Valley Takes a Loss

Fountain Valley fell victim to Los Alamitos and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Griffins, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Barons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Courtney Kols spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

Fountain Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Los Alamitos, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Fountain Valley will head out to face off against Marina at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Barons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Los Alamitos, they will host Cypress at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
