Basketball Recap: Applewood Christian Comes Up Short

After soaring to 58 points the game before, Applewood Christian was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a blow against the Mid-Missouri HomeSchool Mavericks, falling 64-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Applewood Christian this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 74-22 back in December of 2024.

Mid-Missouri HomeSchool's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaden Hayes led the charge by going 11 for 22 en route to 22 points along with seven steals and five boards. Hayes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Austin Sartin was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Applewood Christian now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Mid-Missouri HomeSchool, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Applewood Christian will face off against Show-Me Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mid-Missouri HomeSchool, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Missouri HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Missouri HomeSchool knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Mid-Missouri HomeSchool likes a good challenge.
