Baseball Recap: Shaker Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Shaker ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Christian Brothers Academy Brothers, sneaking past 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bison also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Tye Mariano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run.

In other pitching news, Ian Bruce looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

Mariano wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Akley, who went 3-for-5 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Akley a new career-high.

Shaker's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Christian Brothers Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shaker will welcome Columbia at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Christian Brothers Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Ballston Spa at 4:30 p.m. The Scotties will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Brothers surely won't give up without a fight.
