Preview: Gering Bulldogs vs. McCook Bison
The Gering Bulldogs and the McCook Bison will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gering will be strutting in after a win while McCook will be coming in after a loss.
Gering can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They snuck past Chase County with a 52-46 win.
Meanwhile, McCook was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 52-46 to Ainsworth. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McCook in their matchups with Ainsworth: they've now lost four in a row.
Gering's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14. As for McCook, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Gering came out on top in a nail-biter against McCook when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 49-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gering since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
