Volleyball Game Preview: Brewer Bears vs. Azle Hornets

Brewer hasn't had much luck against Azle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Hornets at 6:00 p.m.

Brewer came up short against Granbury on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

While Brewer was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Granbury's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 27-25, 33-31.

Meanwhile, Azle had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Rangers by a score of 3-1.

Azle walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14, 22-25, 25-17.

Brewer better keep an eye on Paisley Jeter. She was instrumental in Azle's win, getting 16 digs and three aces. That's the most digs Jeter has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Heather Lockridge, who had 11 digs and one assist.

Brewer's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Azle, their win bumped their record up to 22-11.

Brewer suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Azle in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lockridge, who had 28 digs and two aces. Now that the Bears know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
