Basketball Game Preview: Poteet Pirates vs. Samuell Spartans

The Poteet Pirates will square off against the Samuell Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Poteet has five straight victories, Samuell has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Poteet saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 57-49 win over Lamar.

Meanwhile, Samuell played a tough matchup last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Wilson 49-13. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-7.

Poteet has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Samuell, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Everything came up roses for Poteet against Samuell when the teams last played back in February, as the squad secured a 62-4 victory. Does Poteet have another victory up their sleeve, or will Samuell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
