The Lord Botetourt Cavaliers are taking a road trip to challenge the Hidden Valley Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lord Botetourt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Lord Botetourt came out on top against Staunton River on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Cavaliers blew past the Golden Eagles 12-2. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Garrett Lonker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Lord Botetourt let Noah Donaho and Isaac Nichols run wild. Donaho went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Nichols went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Donaho is becoming a predictor of Lord Botetourt's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Brady Kish was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Lord Botetourt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hidden Valley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Northside on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted against the Vikings since April 3, 2019.
The team relied heavily on Wyatt Clarke, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Hidden Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Lord Botetourt, their record now sits at 9-6.
Lord Botetourt came out on top in a nail-biter against Hidden Valley in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
