Basketball Game Preview: Brooks County Trojans vs. Lanier County Bulldogs

Brooks County hasn't had much luck against Lanier County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Brooks County Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Lanier County Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Brooks County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Monday, Brooks County came up short against Madison County and fell 78-66. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 485th in Georgia, while the Cowboys are ranked 211th in Florida).

Despite the defeat, Brooks County got top-tier performance from Anton Graham, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 boards. What's more, Graham also racked up four blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Colten Gosier, who posted nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Brooks County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Lanier County didn't have quite enough to beat Clinch County on Friday and fell 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered against the Panthers since February 12, 2022.

Brooks County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Lanier County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Brooks County couldn't quite finish off Lanier County in their previous matchup on January 4th and fell 65-62. Can Brooks County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
