Baseball Recap: Vicksburg Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Vicksburg entered their tilt with St. Joseph on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bears a 4-0 shutout. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 8-4 win the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Not much got past Drake Henderson, who gave up just three hits to keep St. Joseph off the board.

On the hitting side, Brandon Shoffner was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Grant Vanwoert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Vicksburg pushed their record up to 13-8-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-13-1 record.

Coming up, Vicksburg is taking a road trip to challenge Sturgis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Joseph, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gull Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
