Baseball Game Preview: Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Red Hawks vs. Onalaska Hilltoppers

The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Red Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Onalaska Hilltoppers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Black River Falls. The win was nothing new for the Red Hawks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Not much got past Caiden Brady, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Black River Falls off the board. Brady has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam De Jager, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Nathan Holthaus also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Onalaska was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Altoona by a score of 11-8.

Onalaska got a massive performance out of Trent Oyen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Oyen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hunter Morse, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau's record is now 13-8. As for Onalaska, their record now sits at 8-11.

Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau came up short against Onalaska when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 5-1. Can the Red Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
