Volleyball Recap: Nordonia Takes a Loss

Nordonia and Hoover squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Nordonia had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.

Nordonia was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Hoover work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 27-25, 17-25, 25-18.

When it comes to explaining why Nordonia lost, don't look at Avery Palinkas. Despite the final result, she had 16 assists and three digs. Palinkas has been hot, having posted 16 or more assists the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Hameed, who had eight digs and one assist.

Nordonia dropped their record down to 17-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Hoover, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Nordonia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hoover, after both having extra time off, they and Olmsted Falls will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
