Basketball Game Preview: Lumberton Pirates vs. Gray's Creek Bears

Lumberton has gone 8-1 against Gray's Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lumberton Pirates will be playing at home against the Gray's Creek Bears at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Lumberton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Lumberton against Purnell Swett as the squad secured an 80-48 win. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 22 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Jaiden Shephard, who shot 4-for-4 from deep and dropped a double-double with 41 points and 25 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 47 games he's played dating back to last season. Amare Jones was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to ten assists and seven boards.

Lumberton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Gray's Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 67-58 to Cape Fear.

Lumberton is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Gray's Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.
