Basketball Recap: Putnam County Panthers vs. Earlville Red Raiders
Putnam County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Earlville Red Raiders.
Earlville had a senior duo take command as Easton Fruit went 7 for 17 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds and Adam Waite dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Waite's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Guelde, who posted five points.
Putnam County's record is now 0-13. As for Earlville, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Putnam County will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hall at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Earlville, they will face off against Marquette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
