Softball Recap: Independence Victorious

Independence posted their closest win since March 27th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Phil Campbell Bobcats 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Bella Hernandez looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Piper Johnson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Reagan Maxon was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Independence hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Independence now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Phil Campbell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-20.

Independence wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-2 loss against Colbert Heights on the 19th. Phil Campbell has also already played their next game (against Phillips), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
