Recap: Cordova Wolves vs. Houston Mustangs
This season hasn't been kind to the Cordova Wolves, who are still winless after their fifth matchup. They were beaten by Houston 64-35 on Tuesday. Cordova has struggled against Houston recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Amani Lipscomb was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 steals for Houston. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna lee Avery, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Cordova bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Houston, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cordova will take on Southwind at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwind is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Houston, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Collierville at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Collierville is ranked 95th, while Houston is ranked 71st).
