Preview: Ash Fork Spartans vs. Fredonia Lynx
Ash Fork is 1-8 against Fredonia since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Ash Fork Spartans will be staying on the road to face off against the Fredonia Lynx at 2:00 p.m. on December 16th. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Last Tuesday, Ash Fork was beaten by St. Michael 58-15. While losing is never fun, Ash Fork can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while St. Michael is ranked 76th).
Violeta Trujillo was Ash Fork's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Eva Flores held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with an assist.
Meanwhile, Fredonia unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Williams an easy 45-23 win. Fredonia has struggled against Williams recently, as their matchup on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Ash Fork's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-8. As for Fredonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Ash Fork ended up a good deal behind Fredonia when the teams last played on December 1st, losing 22-6. Can Ash Fork avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
