Football Recap: Brookwood Broncos vs. South Gwinnett Comets

If Brookwood was riding high off their 48-20 takedown of Shiloh last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Brookwood Broncos came up short against the South Gwinnett Comets on Friday, falling 42-20. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Although Brookwood took the loss, they still got scores from Nijous Ross, Will Hagelgan, and Brayden Tyson. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Franklin, who threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

Leading South Gwinnett to victory were Xavier Butler and Eric Ramey Iii. Butler rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, while Ramey Iii rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Another pass catcher making a difference was Desmonte Brown, who picked up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Brookwood dropped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for South Gwinnett, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
