Volleyball Recap: Swain County Takes a Loss

If Swain County was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Murphy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Maroon Devils fell just short of the Smoky Mountain Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Maroon Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Swain County started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 24-26, 25-15, 25-15, 15-6.

Swain County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Smoky Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Swain County will host Highlands at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smoky Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pisgah at 6:30 p.m.
