Basketball Recap: Bruceville-Eddy Comes Up Short

Bruceville-Eddy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat. They lost to the Chilton Pirates at home by a 51-32 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-21 on January 3rd.

Mariyah Suiters continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chilton, going 11 of 18 en route to 23 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards. Suiters is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Novia Coleman was another key player, going 6 for 11 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Bruceville-Eddy's loss dropped their record down to 5-25. As for Chilton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13.

Bruceville-Eddy and Chilton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Bruceville-Eddy (ranked 1480th) will meet Mart (ranked 721st) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Chilton will square off against Marlin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday down 669 places (1129 vs. 460).
