Basketball Recap: Cross County Cougars vs. High Plains Storm

In what's become a running theme this season, the Cross County Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 54-13 win over High Plains on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-6.

Lilly Peterson was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that she posted two or more blocks. Adrienne Waller was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, High Plains struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cross County racked up 16 assists.

The win makes it two in a row for Cross County and bumps their season record up to 18-2. As for High Plains, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Cross County will head out on the road to challenge the Scouts at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for High Plains, they and the Beavers will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Edward comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
