Basketball Recap: Greensboro Day School Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Greensboro Day School won the last time they faced Page and things went their way on Thursday too. The stars were shining brightly for the Greensboro Day School Bengals in a 52-37 win over the Page Pirates. Given the Bengals' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Pirates are ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Page saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lola Vanore went 9 of 21 on her way to 20 points along with five assists and four steals. That was a full 54.1% of Page's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Pyrtle, who had eight points and eight rebounds.
