Baseball Recap: Hunterdon Central Gets the Win

Hunterdon Central hadn't done well against Bridgewater-Raritan recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Red Devils had just enough and edged out the Panthers 8-7. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Liam Goyette and Jake Masterton dominated on the mound. Goyette tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits, while Masterton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Trevor Wallace was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Contiliano, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Hunterdon Central's record is now 12-10. As for Bridgewater-Raritan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Hunterdon Central will take on Somerset Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bridgewater-Raritan, they will square off against Old Bridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
