Basketball Recap: Fort Myers Comes Up Short

Fort Myers lost against Lely back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Fort Myers Green Wave were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 72-71 to the Lely Trojans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (63), the Green Wave still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Fort Myers still got an impressive performance from James Michel, who went 9 of 19 en route to 25 points and seven assists. Those 25 points gave Michel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Hardy, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points and five boards.

Fort Myers' loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Lely, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season.

Fort Myers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-58 defeat against Lehigh on the 31st. As for Lely, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-58 win against Canterbury on the 31st.
