St. Paul hasn't had much luck against Crestview recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Flyers will square off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Paul's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Crestline with a sharp 12-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Flyers considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Isabella Guerra was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ella Kalizewski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.
St. Paul was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crestview). They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over Willard on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their 15th in a row.
Crestview's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for St. Paul, their record is now 12-9.
St. Paul might still be hurting after the 16-2 loss they got from Crestview when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Flyers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
