Softball Game Preview: Grapevine Mustangs vs. Azle Hornets

For the second straight game, Grapevine will face off against Azle. The Mustangs will challenge the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grapevine has four straight wins, Azle has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Grapevine's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Azle 6-0. Considering the Mustangs have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Bella MacMahon's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ashley Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Raegan Stanley was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Azle's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15-2. As for Grapevine, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.
