Volleyball Recap: Cornell Falls Despite Big Games from Kyleigh Mercer and Willow Kobliska

Cornell was the 3-0 winner over Bruce when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chiefs lost 3-0 to the Red Raiders on Thursday. Chiefs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Red Raiders since Thursday.

While Cornell was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Bruce's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-18, 25-21.

Willow Kobliska and Kyleigh Mercer certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Kobliska had 12 digs, while Mercer had four digs and two aces.

Cornell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Bruce has already played their next matchup (against New Auburn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cornell will be paying especially close attention to the Red Raiders' game: after the Red Raiders face off against the Trojans, they'll take on Cornell again at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
