Softball Recap: Seton Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Seton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Mount Notre Dame 12-10. This was a revenge game for the Saints: when they faced off against Mount Notre Dame back in March, they had to take a 7-5 loss.

McKinley Ruhe was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kylie Curlis and Allie MacPherson did most of the damage at the plate: Curlis went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while MacPherson went 2-for-4 with two triples and two runs. That's the most hits Curlis has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maggie Nie, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Seton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Seton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Mount Notre Dame, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.

Coming up, Seton will look to defend their home field on Monday against Ursuline Academy at 4:30 p.m. As for Mount Notre Dame, they will venture away from home to square off against Taylor at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mount Notre Dame will need to watch out since the Yellowjackets have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
