Football Recap: Butler Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hopewell + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Butler had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past the Hopewell Titans with points to spare, taking the game 42-28. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

DeMaurion Thomas-Wright had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 90 yards and two TDs. He is becoming a predictor of Butler's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't). The Bulldogs also got help from Donovan Pollard, who showed off his sure hands for 84 receiving yards.

When it comes to explaining why Hopewell lost, don't look at Zac Jones. Despite the final result, he rushed for 214 yards and three scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Kareem Marshall, who rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

With the win, Butler broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6. As for Hopewell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Coming up, Butler will face off against Mooresville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' defense better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 28.7 points per game this season. Hopewell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
