The inaugural Polynesian Bowl in 2017 featured Tua Tagovailoa and A.J. Epenesa, who both recently declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. The two return for this year's contest as honorary team captains.

Penei Sewell, Brevin Jordan, Talanoa Hufanga and Jevon Holland headlined the event in 2018.

In 2019, Polynesian Bowl organizers added even more elite talent, including Trey Sanders, Marcel Brooks, Puka Nacua, Henry To'oto'o, Giles Jackson, Mase Funa and Devyn Ford.
