Softball Recap: Leslie County Comes Up Short

Leslie County extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 9-19 in the process. They came up short against the Wolfe County Wolves, falling 15-5. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.

Kaylee Caudill was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

As for Wolfe County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by eight runs or more this season.

On Wolfe County's side, Sami Noble made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Noble has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last four games.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Stone, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Kenzie Miller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Leslie County has already played their next contest (against Middlesboro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Wolfe County, they will square off against Elliott County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
