Flowing Wells hasn't had much luck against Desert View recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Flowing Wells is taking a road trip to challenge Desert View at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Flowing Wells will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Vista Grande, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Flowing Wells came out on top against Vista Grande by a score of 11-6 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Caballeros.
Yesenia Solano was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Kristen Felix was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Flowing Wells was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.
Meanwhile, Desert View entered their tilt with Pueblo on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Warriors.
Jasmine Reyna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Desert View saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myla Sutton, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Nadiyah Bacahui also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Flowing Wells' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Desert View, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-8.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Flowing Wells hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Desert View struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Flowing Wells might still be hurting after the 16-3 loss they got from Desert View when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can Flowing Wells avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
