Soccer Game Preview: Williamstown vs. Ravenswood

The Williamstown Yellowjackets will square off against the Ravenswood Red Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ravenswood will be up against a hot Williamstown team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Yellowjackets blew past Tyler 7-1 on Tuesday.

Williamstown's offense was hitting the Knights from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Mason Mercer led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Ravenswood kept a clean sheet against St. Marys on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Blue Devils. The high-scoring effort was just what Ravenswood needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Something new happened on Tuesday as Matthew Phelps saw his first action of the season, playing 40 minutes against St. Marys. Phelps made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Williamstown's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Ravenswood, their win bumped their record up to 5-8-1.

Williamstown was able to grind out a solid victory over Ravenswood in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 4-2. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
