Flag Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ta'lia Johnson and Kendyll Upshaw Lead Bellflower to Victory

Bellflower owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They snuck past the Mayfair Monsoons with a 6-0 win. For the Buccaneers, this counts as revenge for the 18-15 victory the Monsoons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

A big part of Bellflower's win came down to the chemistry between Kendyll Upshaw and her top target Ta'Lia Johnson. Upshaw threw for 130 yards and one TD while Johnson picked up 40 receiving yards and one score.

Bellflower didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bailey Blake and Jazelle Miller.

Bellflower is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.5 points on average over those games. As for Mayfair, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
